Its a shame the box is not correct. But would love to see the dot display working. I wonder why the dot displays Calc's are so rare.

Apparently someone with deep pockets grabbed this one. I hope for their sake it really works. The mention of the word 'tempermental' is enough to scare me off. Well, that and the price. :o

I don't know WTF is going on here, but something is SERIOUSLY wrong with this auction! I own No. 338, I've had it for over two years (purchased at the NAWCC Southern California Regional in Nov. of 2008) and I'm holding it in my hot little hand as I write this! These pics look like the ones I took shortly after getting the watch; I'll have to look for them in my image archive. So, there is NO WAY this guy can deliver this watch...this deal is a scam! If anyone knows the buyer, tell them they've been HAD! Wow! Two days offline because of the rain, and everything goes haywire... I bought another 18K Calc from a seller in New Jersey a few weeks ago (No. 182), for $4000, and that was a legit seller. This sale is a complete fraud...sorry. I have reported this as a fraudulent listing to eBay. The timing on this little scam was perfect; let's hope we can alert the buyer before it's too late and save them a world of grief...the seller is also in for some headaches, since they didn't do due diligence in verifying the item actually exists in the possession of the "owner". And here's the kiss of death...in the last eight days, I see two other unsatisfied buyers yelling "Fraud!" Given what's going on now, I believe them!
So, to answer the question this thread asks...I got this one (25 months ago).

I'm glad i posted this eBay auction in time. I just hope the buy now winner can retract his Paypal payment ASAP, or fingers crossed he hasn't paid yet.

Maybe 'Jack375' has been scammed by some unscrupulous individual in relation to this particular consignment item?

The "owner" is the real scammer here, but the seller is on the hot seat, too, for not verifying the item is actually in the posession of the consigner, especially on a higher-ticket item like this (and regardless of the "bailee" statement in the legal section, if they are claiming to hold the merchanside in question, that is an outright lie, since they cannot possibly be holding the watch pictured, since it is here, in my posession, where it has been for the last two years). This watch was held in a San Diego pawn shop for nearly a year, before I saw it, waiting for a buyer. A friend of the pawnshop owner brought it to the 2008 Del Mar NAWCC show, where I picked it up for $3200 (gold at under $900/ounce then). If I hadn't bought it, it had been decided to to scrap it (too much money sitting doing nothing, and the owner was running a business, not a museum; I had the opportunity to speak to him directly, so I'm not making-up the melting-down part). I'm guessing these pics were taken at the pawnshop, which raises a whole new set of questions. In any event, the pic showing the 338 serial number is clear and un-ambiguous, so somebody is trying to pull a fast one. I called the seller today...so far, no response. The relatively low positive feedback (95.2%) would still be a red flag on something like this (I mean, that would imply nearly 900 bad transactions, and this one is a real ticking time-bomb, ready to go off in somebody's face).
And, while it might be true that this is a bottom-end item in comparison to some (hey, the nicest P1 on earth wouldn't buy a $20,000 Rolex President; though some might doubt it, I know my place in the Universe), this sort of thing strays deep into criminal territory, and casts a shadow on all our reputations as collectors and sellers.

I'm confused by the serial number - I didn't think the 18k calcs went over 100, the one at issue is #336?

The sellers pattern is a bit scary - he's sold over $60k since December 22nd. He has a $3700 sale from CHristmas Day but already has positive feedback. That's odd: the seller is in Deleware(East Coast), and the East Coast of USA has been buried in a near record snowstorm, the seller uses "economy shipping" and has managed to make delivery in record time? I see a $10k sale of his from the 16th is now in a fraud claim. His $15k sale from the 22nd is in a fraud claim, yet his $17k sale the same day received feedback of,"just received, happy as all. Hmmm, I am expecting this to get worse before better....the seller seems to have incredible products and the worst luck on dodgy buyers. And miraculous shipping....maybe he hires Santa during the off-season. M:)W:)M

Ohhh, it gets even worse. I start checking the positive feedback left by others. Odd, the same feedback does not show up on their "left for others lists". And some of these people don't show a transaction in months. I think it odd when a buyer jumps for a $14k watch, whilst having a history of never buying ANYTHING that is over $30-40.

I hope that eBay are quick to launch an investigation, the last negative feedback stated that the only thing received was a registered letter....scary a scammer could easily try to use this as evidence for proof of postage.

Actually, it took 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 19 seconds, but the point still is...the lister/seller COULD NOT and DID NOT ever have this watch! A physical impossibility, since it is here with me, and has been, for over two years. The pics must have been shot at the pawn shop here in San Diego ( I am now going to make an active effort to find out which one). I am inclined to make an example of this "seller" on the basis of wire fraud, a serious FEDERAL felony, for which the investigating agency (the FBI) has unlimited jurisdiction. I am going to try to contact the seller one last time Monday, and if there is no response, the heat gets turned up! And again, for the record, I filed a "Fraudulent Listing" complaint with eBay on Dec. 29.

bruce, you are correct on the pulsar selling time. my comment was on jeff's post about the panerai. i clicked on the phrase 'the same' on his post. my bad! i should have been more specific. it does seem like that seller moves his stuff very quickly. there is one[at least] of those ebay selling houses here in scottsdale. they usually get about 50% of the sale as fees tho'. that'll tweek your wallet. peter

Guys, did I just have a stroke, or did this sellers' positive feedback just drop 2 percentage points to 93.2% ? I don't know if this character has been doing questionable auctions for the entire 10.5 years he's been on eBay, but it looks like lately things are starting to spiral out of control, and people are starting to get hurt. He needs to get off eBay, and if I don't get a REAL good explanation from him of what he's doing, I'm going to do whatever it takes to send him on his way...

Ebay altered the way feedback % are calculated some time back- the % now refers to the last 12 months trading- this seller looks to have been a large volume ebay assistant who gave up volume sales some time back and went over to individual high value sales (or did the original proprietor retire/die and an ex-employee swipe the passwords & listing templates?). Short purchase times and positive feedback smacks of feedback boosting- seller buys in item using different id, after a couple of days tells ebay seller/purchaser have mutually agreed not complete so as to claim back the final item fee and then both sides leave positive feedback for each other- there are a few sellers on ebay who habitually do this but so difficult to prove with the way ebay has become "anonymous" to protect buyers!

NOTE on jack375! Feedback now down to 89.1%, and two new major negative feedbacks! Looks like this guy is going down in flames. Can't believe he's been on eBay for over ten years, and the house of cards is only now crashing down. Better late than never, I suppose...

Jeff, you may have watched too many episodes of "The Rockford Files" (occasionally comes in handy, though...). I didn't think it was reasonable that a seller could accumulate that many feedbacks, and stay on eBay for over ten years, doing this sort of stuff. Good catch...

This is how bad it's getting....
2 foreign exchange students at WSU in Winona Minnesota have been arrested by federal agents for identity theft, wire fraud and money laundering connected to Ebay and Paypal. They allegedly stole more than 1.25 million using stolen accounts.

True that(slang for I agree 100%).
I'll use the 'bay for the tremendous exposure for selling odd items, but I won't even bother any more with those tactics like trying to embed a watermark of my sites' URLs.... Ebay is really not a classy association. I'd rather spend $2000+ a year on Google ad words than have to pay Ebay AND Paypal. Getting screwed on my own terms.
