Hi all

just a update for anyone interested.lol
i did recieve the Girard Perregaux led non drivers watch
and to my relief it appears to be a actual GP led watch
i shall upload pictures asap,
the case is hard stamped Girard Perregaux
(inside the case is signed GP with a serial number)
on the front crystal it has the known GP intials design.
the module isnt marked, however the led display is identical to
another known GP non drivers led watch
(yes its fully working)
pictures to follow.

I bet it's just a GP-branded cheap case with some standard module.
Hopefully the experts will recognize the module once we have photos. Thanks a lot FG for taking the plunge for us :-D

As promised, for those interested.

It appears a standard case (apart from 3 oclock command button postion)
fully stamped girard etc.
so as per peter wenzigs GP non drivers led, these leds
(theres others in my opinion) were probably licensed out for manufacture by the GP company. GP than went on to develop and manufacture there own led model , the driver range.
thats my limited view.any more info would be great.

I thought it was specifically forbidden by law for Swiss watch companies to use foreign parts and more specifically, to display another country of origin on a Swiss distributed timepiece. The G/P on the inside looks fairly odd(to me), logo on crystal looks a little crude(just me I suppose). Somehow it feels like a contrivance. I have one of those modules, 3 oclock command contact, made by Collins(look on plastic covering module front for fine print).

just a quick compare with peters GP non drivers.

seems all consistent to me.

ps, the logo on mine is engraded ( but in worn and scratched.
condition )
also note peters marked on inside of case 2393
my one marked 2392

Ed, are you saying you have seen this type of module in other watches, and there it was made by Collins? What do you mean with "fine print"? I can only spot "no (0) jewels unadjusted".

Thinking about it, maybe this watch was actually BEFORE the Casquette.
According to Jürgen Hofstädter's site, Development of the "Casquette"... began in 1974 in GP's own electronic department. ... Finally the Casquette could be launched for sale in January 1976 and was produced until November 1978.
1976 is quite late to enter the LED market. Maybe they helped themselves with a standard module to meet market demand until their own design was finally ready. Just a wild guess...
