Funny eBay auction!

Post16 Aug 2006, 16:22

Checkout this funny auction, the seller seems to think that his stainless Pulsar calc is a P1 worth $12,000

Be careful you dont accidentally hit 'buy now'

Ok, he hates my guts, but he HAS been notifie......
Dear Seller:
I suppose others have written you, but your calculator watch IS NOT a P-1, the P-1 was only a watch. In fact, your calculator is a second or third year model(1977 -1978), which is evident from the = in that position, first year models had it in the upper right corner(this is well documented). Without the original box, it probably has a street value of $800-1200,at best. Try an advanced search in ebay, checking the Completed Sales box...you will see what I mean on the value. You might also see the two, NOS, in the original inner and outer boxes(matching serial numbers of course)I picked up at a hair under $2k.
Just for your edification and to save you some relisting fees. Shooting the messanger will accomplish nothing.

Remember that Sammy D.(r.i.p.) had a glass eye on one side....

The guy evidently did a little research(not enough though) and then concluded he had a real gem. If it WAS a P-1, we'd be talking about the person who hopped on the "Buy It Now", as that would be a pretty decent price, compared to recent sales. Kind of like the guy a few month back that was trying to get 1400GBP for a Mido - he told a number of us to just piss off!

Aha. This is the famous - Elvis' sunglass supplier. Interesting stuff, but the size of those ebay pages are Huugge. We should be thankfull he didn't try to claim the Pulsar was owned by Elvis, like other, dodgy, traders would. Still cant forget about the cheap round LED, supposedly owned by Elvis, that went for ~$800 when $30 would have been more normal!

How can anyone aks for decent money when half the shots are totally blurred?? Do sellers really think "hey, these are blurred but are still good to use"? How hard is it to delete blurred shots off a digital camera and take some more??

I agree, except for lit up display shots :( I still haven't quite worked out how to get those relly nice shots of an LED watch with the display on, without a bit of bluring!

This seller did have a P1 that he had up for auction in January of '04. It was in mint condition with the original inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet and "P" shaped setting magnet, and it worked. It had a starting price of $12,495.00 and a "Buy it Now" of $17,495.00. The auction ended early and as I heard it, someone bought it for around $17,000.00. It appears that he just listed this calc. watch with some of the original P1 text and didn't bother to change it.

notonly1 is correct. This guy knows full well what a P1 is. I even have his photos from that auction, last year.

Wow! Bit of a breezey twit, isn't he? But he did put away that P1; we LED people have to thank him for that...at least.
