Ah yes, very nice.
Who knows, maybe rewolf will pick it up to give his current G.P. some company? :-)

I already contacted the seller ;-) and asked for the "inside" condition (originality, tinkering, corrosion) but the answer wasn't satisfying enough yet to put in a serious bid - I hope to get a picture soon. Besides that IMHO this example is quite worn and probably rebrushed.

I've been burnt too often with that old stuff. Either the crystal has been replaced, or there is corrosion, or some srew or contact is missing or broken, etc. I'm aware that even if it works it can die any moment, but I want to be SURE the module hasn't been tinkered with and is in original condition before I pay several hundred Euros.

I know you really know your watches rewolf, and electronics too.
If the seller provides the necessary pics I'm sure you'll be able to determine what a good price is.

Besides that IMHO this example is quite worn and probably rebrushed.

Funny, I was looking at the case thinking it looked to be in pretty decent condition - the idea of it being rebrushed didn't even cross my mind. Well - I hope you do get it (for an appropriate price of course)
so that you can show it off to all of us here in more detail. :-D

I'm not sure, could be just the photos. Look at the one showing "SA 3", there appears to be a dark shade on the steel around the display, plus the left button looks brassed. And it has a few nicks and the back is quite worn (lettering almost invisible). It's always hard to say from photos (though these ones are rather good).

Are the screws on the back plate different?
The two bottom ones looked beveled and the top ones flat, or is it the camera angle/lighting?

Now that you say it - yes, they do look different. Could have been replaced at some point. Mine are flat and all four identical.

Ah, I see it now.... the wear and the different screws.

Still a nice piece, if only it were not so over priced (like that green Pulsar in the other thread). We may all be a little "crazy" for these vintage gems but I don't think any of us are that crazy.

Worn and re-brushed finish, dodgy screws, unsatisfactory description of interior, brassed command button, dark shade around display, nicks on the back, lettering worn, what a piece of crap - TUT he should just give it away

There is also this one on offer, makes the current price of the other one look like a bargain though

Just as one listing ends another one starts, this one has the box, papers etc.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Girard-Perregaux-Ca ... 7C294%3A50

I bet this one will easily break the £1000 mark.

Personally I like the band on the other one better than this new listing.
$1042.76 Euros - someone wanted it badly.

The strap isn't original, the module has been repaired by "J. H." (probably Jürgen Hofstädter) and has new battery contacts, the "papers" is a copied brochure. But the case looks quite good :-)

I think the presentation of this watch is much better, I wonder how much the better presentation will influence the final sale price?

I think the seller has been very honest in his description, he has included a description of the repair work and has stated it has a replacement band, copied papers etc.

I would feel more confident making a bid on this sellers items than I would with the seller of the previous GP that was on offer - the one who was reluctant to give information that is.

IF anyone is itching to get one like that, I have one(18k Gold plate) in minty+(Nos, but lightly handled) condition...thing is, the original strap was perfect but horribly warped from being buckled over the years, so I have ordered a custom made strap for the asymmetrical case, 24mm front, 22mm back(lug widths). Original GP marked buckle, box, hang tags. I went with black ostrich leather, black calf undeside. Hopefully I'll have it in next 4-5 weeks(coming from ABP in France). That darn asymmetrical lug width is such a pain. :x

I was thinking $2200/1683EUR/1529GBP

Yeah, I was inspired by all the excitement over some GPs coming up for sale.
