Nope, goldfilled case; just has a stainless P3 caseback [six-digit serial starting with 2]...I see this sort of transposed part all the time. The working Ladies' watch was worth buying [not me, though].

Odd situation here; there was really no indication in the pics that this might be a SG case...and the serial number on the caseback was wrong for a P2 [there are NO P2s with a serial number in the 200XXX range]. So, what this is, is a 2975, with a 3115 caseback. Very strange mixup of very uncommon parts...you could fuel an Infinite Improbability Drive with stuff like this...

I say the caseback was stamped on a Monday or Friday and is all fouled up - someone with a hangover or thinking about the weekend. :~# :O`~ 8-)

I love the purist collectors - nothing like watching guys going crazy over one freakin number.....

Well, it could have been a clearer pic, but a P2 caseback with a six-digit number would probably have an "A" under the serial number, to differentiate it from a P3, which had serials in the same number range [otherwise you could have two different models using the same type caseback, with identical numbers, which would tend to make for some very problematical bookkeeping]. Just went back and looked at the auction pic...still looks like a "2" to me, but I believe you. I have 3 14K P3s on leather in the 137000 block [031, 039, and 127], and 2 3130s in the 136000 block [721 and 623], so, at 136383, this fits right in as a 3115 part; the chance that this just a co-incidence approaches zero...IMHO, of course ;-) .

Bruce - it actually is nice that you and a select few are tryng to form a clearer picture of the product flow....it is 7:04 pm/19:04 here and I thought it a little funny the checkbook didn't balance.

We need a smiley that looks like a big dog barking...for when someone needs to go away. Like me. !@@!

Love the number of you guys that have been on today - high point was 43 of you, then it held steady in the upper 20s. Enjoy! 8-)

Sure does look like a 2 in the picture. But as the 1 has a line underneath in the blurred picture it does look like a 2.

You lost me on the........"so, at 136383, this fits right in as a 3115 part; the chance that this just a co-incidence approaches zero" ?? :-?

There was a "run" of 14K SG P3 cases and associated parts going on...3115s, 3386s, 3396s, and 3130s. All four had 14K solid cases, the rest is variations in backs and bracelets [or straps]. But the serial numbers of each model were restricted to specific blocks; and your number hunkers down very comfortably right in the midst of other known numbers...simple as that. Again, this sort of thing is exactly why and how a serial number registry would be helpful [and if I had correctly read that first digit, I'm sure I would have bid on this lot...lol]. So, once again, here is proof that the devil is, indeed, in the details, and occasionally, the key to a great bargain.

Lucky you, Mr. Frequency !

I scored one of these a few years back. You got yours cheap because it was poorly photographed.......mine was cheap because my caseback merely said "Stainless Steel" (although from memory, the caseback wasn't even photographed).

My caseback is probably a replacement, but for what it's worth, the serial number is 14826.

There's nothing like a bargain ;-)

Rgds,
Andrew.

Mr Frequency,

Congratulations on the most excellent find!

I used to think that there were no more treasures to be found on eBay also, but every once in a while one turns up (as I can attest to)! Even though I like to think that the attraction to these antique curiosities is purely aesthetic, this treasure hunting aspect does make the game a little more fun.

Please post some photos when you get a chance.

Yes the hunting is the fun, then kissing the postman when the watch arrives. Then putting in the safe like a fish in the net and forgetting about it. "Strange hobby"... I don't often wear a watch.

The lucky finds on eBay are few and far between. Not like the good old days 8-)
