Citizen Calculator.......Crazy/Shill Bidding?

Post18 May 2011, 20:33

I might be missing something but it looks suspicion as both auctions have repeat bids from the same two, low feedback, bidders.

Maybe the watch was featured in the Blade Runner movie

Well,

If there were only 200 made, then that would greatly reduce the number of working ones available. Very rare, but then again, who wants a Sci Calc on your wrist.

Anyway, interesting story though

For the record, I can attest that the Blade Runner craze a couple months back on that black/gold Microma model was genuine (not shill bidding). Unloaded my fixer-upper for $1225...

I timed it just right, as lately nicer examples than mine have been selling for much less.

Me! ;-)
I find non-scentific calculators rather useless, mostly due to their very limited numerical range, I need scientific notation (like 1.2345e-12) as I deal with megas, micros and picos all day.

I guess, but for the scientific Calculator I use the TI 84. But I can see how some can get enamored with a Sci Calc watch.

Appears to be someone who wants to build up a nice collection and has enough money to pay any price.

Can't blame him for going for this one, the Casquette is a super cool watch IMHO.The listing states the watch doesn't work, are the modules difficult to work on, what are the chances of getting it working in comparison to other modules of the era?

The highest bidder was 'elton_notsings' from the USA who has also purchased a wire bonder which I think is the same one that was mentioned on a thread here on the the DWF, is he known to the forum?
