if I remember correctly the 1603 is alphanumeric with bar display while the 1602 is the dot-matrix display. identical in size, shape, plastic, etc - both by Frontier USA.
what parts do you need from these?

a miracle man?
I doubt that anybody would be lucky in bringing a dead acid-consumed module back to life :)
do you want one? ;)

well, I'd rather suggest that you ask that miracle-man if he is well on the mind.
if a module is only "dead" then a new quartz usually helps but note that Frontier modules have a very big percentage of failure in case of battery leakage.
the chip is covered with silicon but it was not a good quality epoxy.
the best part was the board made of ceramics and the display.

I can send you a dead one - board without the exterior plastics but this one is dead a 300%.
not sure it's worth the postage.

IIRC these modules were used in some other cheaper watches, if you could find out which models they were used in you might be able to pick up a working one cheap on eBay, only problem is the module housing was different on the Omega so you would still need a dead one for the housing.

tin soldier: richard is correct that the module hoousing is different, but only really in how it makes contact with the case. A lot of other modules can be put in your case, you will just need to peel the Omega sticker out of the caseback so they can make contact. And depending on the module used, a contact plate that bridges the batteries on the caseback side might need to be supplied. A standard Frontier module has a contact plate with an "ear" sticking up that contacts the caseback - usually a small upward bend on that and you have excellent contact even with the deeper Omega caseback.

I can help you out with a drop in replacement over a wide variety of prices and technologies. I'll PM you on that.

if you have one of these frontier modules (dot display) and is working perfectly are you better to remove the batteries to protect it aganst leakage or use silver oxides?
thanks john

if you are not planning to wear the watch for a long time it is suggested to remove batteries.
fortunately most modern quality batteries do not leak (not Vinnic or other cheap Chinese makes) and even if they do they produce a light dust that is far less harmful than acid.
