Mostek DOW module needed

Post25 Oct 2013, 16:41

So I received another Imado from the Fleabay today. It's quite large and the sunburst dial makes it a real stunner.
Not too shabby looking after some ultrasonic cleaning, even though it still needs a gentle polish:

Unfortunately the module is mostly dead. After inserting batteries, it randomly shows up either a "1" or "0" digit, but nothing else. I know this is most definitely a faulty quartz crystal, but my last quartz swaps ended up in modules running either a few minutes fast or slow per day -- too much for the trimmer to compensate.
Is someone willing to part with a Mostek Module so I can resurrect this beauty?

hi there, the Mostek modules are quite reliable and many are repaired with a new quartz.
if that won't help you will be sooner or later lucky with finding this module in a Bulova LED.

Thanks. I was aware this module has been used a lot by Bulova. Problem is, they ain't cheap -- at least in working condition.
It's probably cheaper to wait for another Convus LCD watch. The last one sold for less than 30 Euros but I unfortunately missed it because the auction ended while I was on the road.

I'd buy a few dead ones and one of them will surely be an easy fix.
I'd even seen these working in beat up condition sell for 30$.

when you're on the road simply use snipers, also handful for auctions that end in the middle of the night.

Still searching. Ebay so far only had a beaten-up Imado which sold for way too much money.
