Seiko VFA 3923 bracelet

Post09 Oct 2016, 11:09

Hello

I am trying to source the code for a seiko analog Quartz VFA 3923.

Does anyone know the code for the bracelet.

I have two different catalogue scans showing six different versions (two different case styles, day date, SS, GP...) all with leather straps. I have a NOS 3923-5010 which came on a shiny Seiko leather (I think it might be lizard of some sort, can't remember...) strap with "SEIKO" buckle. Don't know about bracelets, did they go with a steel strap at some stage during production as well?

Here we go,

Got the original box and just came back from Yokohama with a very close match. Still looking for original though. I have the blue rectangular version with perfect faceted crystal. Maybe B/R number is the bracelet?

I am assuming they were solid link as the VFA was a primo line. Mine looks new old stock with the extra wide wood box, satin insert and old block with seiko V.F.A. on it .

Will set up some photos later.

OK, I don't know the reference of the steel bracelet but quite a lot of them were sold on leather. If you have a NOS set with no band then its quite possible that it began its life on leather,

Ok, here's a thing. I was trying to figure out what that third watch on your first picture was, it doesn't look like any of the common Japanese 38xx series watches... because its a Seiko-Quartz-2002 - ie an export version of the 38xx (non-VFA) series, probably equivalent to a Japanese market 38xx "QR". So, perhaps the 3923 steel bracelet was more for export models?

I dunno, just a thought.
