Need to make a spring for a Seiko 0124

Post18 Nov 2016, 12:08

I need some advice if possible. I need to make some crown retaining springs for a Seiko 0124-0049. Unfortunately I cant find the part number for them as the tech guide only has the 0019 version the release the crown by a small screw. The 0049 can only be released by puling the extended crown retaining spring from the front of the module. Terrible design and easy to break the spring.

Anyway, I need some spring wire, ribbon I think its called, about 1mm by 0.25. Does anybody know where I can source this? Also any advice on bending the spring when I get it. Of course unless anyone knows where I can source the original springs.

Very easy to break it, I think it weakens because it also is depressed when you want to use the backlight.
I press the end of the spring down when I want to remove the module, just enough to remove the stem. And don't forget to also press it when you insert the stem again.
I've got three working 0124 watches now but some spare springs could be very handy :)
