Heuer Cal 100 Chronosplit LED Display needed

Post31 Dec 2016, 02:49

Hi All.

This is a bit of a long shot but I a m after some help...

I am developing a new Rawsar module for the Heuer Chronosplit LED/LCD watch and need donor parts/dead modules especially a LED display as my display has many dead segments. I was going to post a picture but I'm getting "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.".

Anyway if anyone can help ?.

Happy New Year.

Great news Neil, such a crappity original module and such a nice watch. I'm hoping somebody will do retro Pulsar calc modules, (nudge nudge Hanno) one of the few Pulsars i'd be happy to wear

Is Sydney a friend of yours ??. And does that mean the display will be upside down ??

If Sydney is a friend, why would he make the module upside down? Unless... Sydney lives in Australia and we live in Europe, but shirley his name would be Sidney and not Sydney, and dont call me Shirley.

"Shirley you jest", or is that 'surely your joking' M:)W:)M

I was in Sydney, Australia and had dinner and a beer with Neil and his wonderful lady friend, where he showed me one of his pcbs and I got to touch it :!: The last time I saw Neil was in London (England), he is hard to track down

What a tough crowd

I know!!! :nikolaus:

Great seeing the work he is doing with the modules. Trying to convince him to come up with some NSC calculator lcd panels. I have three working modules and cases but two with bled panels.

Cheers, Geoff

The time has come (in lovely red LED digits) to announce I have "cracked" my troublesome Heuer LED Chronosplit. I have developed a number of modules.

Here is a link to a video if you are interested:

https://youtu.be/WyD90J5goSY

Making LED displays from scratch was both frustrating and fun :bang: . OK I know its not original anymore but at least I have a rather shiny working LED/LCD chronosplit I can proudly wear whilst boring my friends to death.

BTW no touching Geoff !.

Holy cow Batman.

You up for a visit in march???

Same place as last time and bring the watch, I won't touch though. And sign me up for a new module or two. I will see if my led panels are functional on my two dead units

Absolutely! And I will buy you a beer at Bondi Friday the 17th of this month in the afternoon. Also, when will the commercial version be available?

It looks spectacular and it looks like I have two cases in need of the module. Is the module able to take the original led block?

Hi Geoff.

I want to ensure everything is rock solid before going "commercial", shouldn't be long as all seems good so far. We can have a discussion over a schooner and some food.

The H2 module is excuse the pun modular and can run the old displays or new displays or a combination. However as I have experienced the LED display can fail when removed as they can delaminate tearing the delicate wire bonds, it's not helped by the fact that Heuer epoxy glued the display to the PCB.

Here is a picture of mine which led to this thread and 4 months of my time and effort.

If the picture doesn't load (I can't seem to preview it) just click on my original picture which takes you to Photobucket and advance to next pic.

I'll send you a PM re Bondi drinks. :-D
