Sinclair FM Radio Watch

Post20 Mar 2009, 10:49

Hi,

I have a sinclair fm radio watch that I may be interested in selling.

It's not working, the battery cover is missing and the rubber strap is not in great shape.

No scratches or dents though - no case or instructions either.
If I were to sell it, how much do you think I could get? I see one is on ebay for a buy it now of £900!! I think that one must be in better condition than mine. Any information greatly received.

Thanks!!

It is difficult to place a value on the watch as the selling price on eBay is generally unpredictable.

The one with the 'Buy It Now' of £900 that you refer to has been listed on eBay for quite a few months without any takers.

If you decide to sell I would recommend that you take some decent photographs and add a nice honest description, start the auction low to attract the bidders, sit back and cross your fingers.

If you have a minimum price in mind you could protect it with a reserve or you could try a 'Buy It Now or Best Offer' style auction and wait and see what happens.

The value of the watch is going to depend largely on it's non-working condition, if a prospective buyer believes that there is a reasonable chance the watch could be repaired or that it has parts which are salvageable they would be more likely to make a bid.

If I was forced (nuts in a vice) to make a estimate on price I would estimate based on the rarity and desirability it to be in the region of £90 - £130.

Thanks for your info bucko,

I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

I think I'll hold on to it for a while and see if I can get it working - you never know, with a little care and attention it may spring into life and I'll have Chris Moyles spewing out of it.

What a horrible thought...

Regards,

MattF.

Good luck with the project, if you get stuck post a couple of pictures they always get a good response from the experts on the forum (I think it helps when they can see what they are talking about.)

I would of thought Steve Wright (Yikes Radio 2 - must be getting old) would be a better choice with him being the main man on the radio in the mid 80s ;-)
