Ricoh Asymmetric LED

Post26 Jun 2010, 02:16

Does anyone have a Ricoh asymmetric LED watch, the one similar to the Hughes with the off set crystal?
I have seen one photographed in the Mondo watch book but not come across it any where else.

Bucko170,

Are you referring to this one?:
http://mondowatch.blog88.fc2.com/blog-entry-79.html
Or this one?:
http://mondowatch.blog88.fc2.com/blog-entry-50.html
http://www.opgenoorth.de/mywatches/index.htm

Unfortunately, I can't remember seeing either of these come up for sale.

The Ricoh 860 Pulsar clone with Sanyo module is also quite striking (and impossible to find):

This model isn't a bad alternative from Majestyk / Jeff:

I recommend searching for another watch entirely and then when you're not looking, one may surface. Otherwise, you'll probably wear out your Internet tubes searching for one before one turns up.

I had one in 2003 but let it go when I bought my first Pulsar P2.
Nothing comes even close to the quality of Pulsar IMHO.

Looks like patience is the key.

No doubting that Pulsars are good quality with a nice weight and size but other manufacturers did produce watches of equal quality IMHO.

Same gut, basically same company. Same glass and metals...any rational other than esthetics's? :-?

I think the movements of Pulsar/Hamilton/Omega have a dismal failure rate, ...Hughes and a bunch of other brands kick their arse in the endurance category. But their(Pulsar/Omega) display is [arguably] without peer. And since we do LOOK at watches, that is a really big factor. Sometimes a pretty face really does make it seem worthwhile, even if they are a pain and ruin your finances - heh! :o

yes true but theres somthing about the shape and style of the tc1 and tc11 that make them just that little bit above the pulsars .stunning watches with the best of names. you cant ask for anything better. quality style plus the heavyness of the omega more weight for your bucks. compare weight to p2 and omega theres no geting away from it omega wins hands down for me preferance to all at the end of the day.

For module quality ,display and reliabilty i would chuck in Swiss - SWISSONIC MODULES (Mido drivers, pontiac drivers etc.)
also the: Girard perregaux module is pretty much up there with bulid qaulity.
thats my two penneths worth.

The Hamilton QEDs are heavier than Pulsars.
If you want to feel the weight of a really tinny bracelet, look no further than a 1970's Rolex Oyster or Jubilee.
I think the bracelet used on the P2 etc.. is the most pleasing to the eye and most comfortable.

yes the p2 is comfortable on the wrist but i would have a omega led every time on my wrist and for them being a large watch they also are very very comfortable on the wrist and far more class and quality

The TC1 and TC2 are both very nice watches, I agree. It all boils down to personal preference.
