I recently bought this watch on ebay after searching for a year+ for a reasonably priced model. It has been a grail watch of mine since I first saw photos. However.... it is SMALL. And on my wrists the reality is not the same as the dream so I am offering it here before it goes back on the bay.
Ebay description of the sale was as follows: 1980 Seiko Dot-Matrix Display System - LCD Digital Quartz Watch. Model number "D031-401A", aka "DMD" or Dot Matrix Display.
•There is a slight dis-coloring on the center of the display. •The LCD display is working fine, and scrolling as you can see from the pictures. •I also discovered it has 24hr function as well.
Made in Japan, fully functional, light works as well. Displays Month and Date, Time, and also the special scrolling feature. All Stainless steel, Bracelet and Case. It is in "used" condition, with light surface scratches. Selling "as is" with no return, what you see is what you will get. Please check all pictures and ask any questions before bidding!
A real beauty...! I'm sure that a new wrist is in searching for this gem....
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable Some watches, simply are not made to last Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way
Awwww reminds me of my Omega Memomaster LCD. I thought like "Doesnt look that small on the pictures" and when i finally got it i thought like "hmmm looks small on my wrist..."
Please don't get me wrong the watch is a design classic, a beauty, it is me and my wrists that is the beast
As a colleague at work said.... " it kind of looks gay, like a girls watch"... he has no taste as he hates digital, but even a stopped clock tells the right time twice daily. I blame you gents for getting me into this hobby hehe.
My new seiko 0439 should arrive tomorrow to ease the pain.
