Mark I /Mark II Inner used Watch parts & Sunwatch Hardware

Post16 Aug 2016, 19:54

Hello DWF Vintage Electronic Watch Repair Specialists,
If you can test and possibly fix Synchronar Mark I and or Mark II inner used module parts. Most of the parts have a Big Red Monsanto Man-3 Mark I display attached to them, and a mounted IC that is packaged plus the vast majority of other parts soldered in place. The newer crystals on the market should be used and I can get those from ordering.
I have been listing these parts on Ebay for Quite some time now through various listers. It seems about half the people who buy the parts are able to get the old inner parts to work and are able to Build complete fully operational Watches from these parts after they add new batteries, a new crystal and a new solar cell and sometimes other parts as they determine need replacing. Also the older bigger Reed switches normally need to be replaced with a smaller reed switch to accommodate the small magnets that are left in inventory. I have none of the large magnets left so the smaller magnets with proper slider sets for them are being used. If necessary the large magnets can be purchased as I do have large magnet slider sets just no large magnets to go in them. So since the sales of these parts has slowed to a snails pace and no one will even venture to spend $119.00 on a 2 parts listing at Ebay including a nice gold plate case and 15 inner used Mark I / Mark II synchronar module parts after 3 or 4 listings with no bidders.
I have determined to see if any of you repairers are Interested in working on a project with me. I am willing to Barter with someone who will come to St. Pete, Florida and look over all the inner parts I have left Determine How many actual working watches we can build from the 1400 or so Inner parts that remain untested. My best guess would be 150-300 inner module parts that could be built into Complete working Mark I /Mark II Sunwatches. I have enough used Sunwatch bands, new SW lexan tops, Sunwatch Stainless Steel Cases. Small magnet slider sets, gift boxes, for the 150-300 watches. We will need: 1) New Solar cells 2) New Black bottoms 3) New Varta V-80 cells/batteries. 4) Band pins 5) new small reed switches 6)epoxy to complete our Watches. I would prefer a retired person who has the Electronic Equipment to test the parts and knows what he is doing. Also you will need to bring to St. Pete, FL : 1) Microscopes 2) soldering irons 3) lights if needed 4) Volt meters and whatever needed to check the old parts out and build complete working watches. This is a big commitment if interested and requires some $$ investment in this venture for the 1) solar cells 2) small new reed switches 3) New Black bottoms 4) band pins 5)epoxy or glue to seal module top to bottom 6) new Varta V-80 cells and have them welded if you cannot weld the batteries. It does not have to be a retired person but I think 1-2 month project here?? By the time all 150-300 fully operational watches are built and split up.
Ok finally to my offer: 1) you can stay here at my place and set up a watch repair room in a Garage. So NO RENT EXPENSE. 2) WE will as the watches are built split them up at a 60-40 Ratio. For every 10 complete watches you are able to build you get 4 of them I get 6. 3) We also split the cost of parts needed to complete the watches 1-6 above at same ratio 60% cost to me 40% cost to you. 4) All the 1400 or so inner parts plus many new displays and all the Sunwatch Hardware that I have to contribute to this project I will at no Cost to you there ok.
If you are retired and come to Florida in the winter sometimes for vacation this would be great opportunity to have a 1-2 month vacation work on watches 3-4 days a week or as much as you wish as long as progress is being made I'm ok with 1-2 month time frame for 1 person as far as staying here goes. There are a lot of attractions around the St. pete, Tampsa area. Fishing, Pier, beaches etc. Motels are only about $300.00 per week if you prefer that. This may not take as long as I am thinking ordering the parts may be most time consuming of all.
Here is my best final analysis of profit: 1) If the bare minimum of 150 units at $350.00 each that's still $52,500 that's $21,000 for you or 40% of $52,500 if you sell your watches for $350.00 only that will be up to you to decide to price your watches. $350.00 seems to be the lowest they sell for at Ebay. I have 2 local jewelers that have promised to sell the Watches once I have at least 10 for them to put in a showcase. And in order to achieve better than Ebay dollars for the watches this would be a good option. I would not have any problem with you putting 10 or20 of yours up at the 2 stores especially if they start selling well. We will have the options of having some of the Stainless Steel cases Gold plated along with some bands or Black epoxy painted or Black ceramic coated. I think 200 units shold be doable. Now expense of 1) 200 solar cells= $2,000.00, 2) 200 black bottoms =$600.00 3) 400 band pins= $40.00 4) epoxy=$50.00, 5) New Varta V-80 cells(Welded together) $4.00 per set X 200= $800.00, 6)new small reed switches= ? Need 6 per watch for rear setting also.= 200 X 6= 1200 X .25= $300.00?. plus your gas to get here ha ha= Total= 2000+600+40+50+800+300= $3790.00 40% of that is $1,500.00 to you. We could order 100 solar cells at first then use some sales profits for other 100 needed if needed.
Square #1 would be to determine Exactly How many of the 1400 parts can be turned into fully working watches. Then order the proper amount of parts needed to complete our watches/
There you have it Send me any ideas you have. I think that 20K worth of Sunwatches at minimum for even 2 months of time total if that long with FREE RENT thrown if you stay at my place saves 8 weeks at motel= $2,400.00

Well it seems like my post was removed I guess. Seems no one interested in making 20K worth of Mark I Sunwatches in 2 months time oh Well. Not going to throw the stuff out guys sorry about that. like I said would need to be Retired person. That has knowledge of Synchronar Mark I /Mark II parts and has worked with them before and may already have some sort of method they can use to test the parts quicker.

Well thanks Ronald for being honest about your abilities and at least you responded. There is no doubt proper electronic equipment is needed and skills both. Would prefer to liquidate all inventory of Mark I inner parts and Sunwatch Hardware.
