My new find! A Seiko 0634-5009!

Post06 Mar 2009, 08:00

Howdy all!

Its been a while since I have posted on this site. I have been busy doing my "real" work. A friend came by yesterday and sold me this watch cheap! Really nice condition Seiko 0634-5009. Works well too. I just love it. Only cost me $150.00!!

Good catch Greg. I have a few of the early Sieko LCD's and I love them. Rock solid - and good looking to boot! 8-)

Yep, that's a nice one. I like the early Seiko LCDs. They're very well made.
My favourite Seiko (and one that I wear regularly) has the same model number, but is the 5019. It has a different band, and has a chronograph. The 5019 variation has black paint alternating on the band (although mine has an aftermarket band), and has a really chunky assymetrical shape. See here:

Good score !

That's a nice one too Charger105 - I don't have that one... yet. :-)
I'm curious, what is correct battery for the Seiko 0634-5009 and is it the same as for the 0634-5019?

Its a UCC386. This is from the manual.
I didn't want to open mine, but then I remembered you can remove the hatch and the module will still remain powered up (I didn't want to have to reset it). It's got an AG12 in it.

:-) Yeah - I remember how shocked I was when I discovered this on my 0634.
I thought maybe it was fluke - but that's way they made them. ;-)
Thanks for the info re: the battery. Someone told me to use a '301' which corresponds to the AG12. But someone else told me to use a SR43W. But I remember reading an older thread that recommended using alkaline batteries for LCD's and sivler oxide for LED's.
