Fixed my Nepro pimp watch

Post31 Jan 2012, 17:56

It was working, only when cold. After warming up, it started to stop and the digits faded out.

But I recently bought this:

And it works again :)

Did I mention is was a pimp watch? 8-)

Some pics of the module, I haven't got a pic with the new (tiny!) crystal, I thought it didn't work at first, closed the case and thought, let's see what happens after a while. I was pushing some buttons, and simultaneously pushing the setting and mode button suddenly brought the watch to live! I've been wearing the watch for some time now and it's still working :)

on the lcd I can read BBC 31-001/623

Lucky you!!

The problem you describe that you had with this watch doesn't sound like it is related to the crystal resonator, but hey, who cares, it works again!!

Yeah, i'm not a lcd nerd yet :) A while ago i discovered that the watch ran very slow and stopped after warming up, or after I touched the quartz crystal. I checked the solder points of the parts, resoldered them to be sure. Didn't work. So I decided to change the only "user changeable part" I had. As we in the hospital (psychiatry) say, "it works". Why? "We don't know".

Well done !
Interestingly, the bracelet looks identical to the Omega GF LED bracelets.
