YEMA & JAZ

Post08 Dec 2012, 18:53

A couple from my collection

Yéma, from around 1986, with a Seiko Y799A, showing Seiko's involvement in the French watch industry before they were officially owners of a large chunk of it

and from around 1974/1975, an early gold plated JAZ with an ETA-ESA module, (at the same time JAZ were producing Electronics with ETA-ESA Dynatrons)

Thanks Kasper
I saw your posts on Yéma and JAZ a few months ago whilst I was researching Framelec, which was a consortium of French watchmakers brought together in 1970 in an early attempt to thwart the growing Far Eastern (and Timex) inroads into the French watch market. Matra Horlogerie, formed as you so rightly say, at the behest of the French Government in 1981 looked like this:

Matra, a French Government backed industrial conglomerate, knew nothing about the watch and clock industry, and enroled Seiko as "advisors".

My collection is mainly mechanicals, electrics and electronics, with only a few digitals, but I'm always on the look out for interesting ones to add when I can.
