Found a Casio S-14, the family is complete!

Post31 Mar 2013, 00:48

I have posted a few threads on the vintage Casio's, the Casio R-11 (sold it, a beautifull watch but too small), the Casio 03-501 and the Casio X-1R

I have been looking for a S-14 and this month I purchased one, including its original users manual.

Personally I believe this Casiotron S-14 is one of the most sturdy and beautifull (and most underrated) vintage LCD's. It comes by every now and then on Ebay, and I personally think they are very affordable.

My S-14 came not working. This S-14 movement (as well as the X-1R movement) is build up with just a few parts, around a porcelain 'PCB' of high quality.

The X-1R came to me with severe battery leakage and thus damage. The S-14 came to me with a clean movement, but not working. It turns out that these movements are very precise in their connectivity to the battery.

I managed to revive both movements and, for now, I have my desired vintage Casio mid 70's family complete. These Casiotrons are very accurate (they outclass the high quality Seiko movements);

My new S-14. I kept case and bracelet original, just cleaned the parts and cleaned and greased all gaskets:

Congratulations with these fine looking watches :mega:
And great that you could revive them both.
