Casio F-81 NOS

Post12 Jul 2013, 09:28

Ciao amici...well i have found a NOS Casio F-81 (picture not available at the moment, sorry) in perfect working conditions.
A common watch so nothing special but i have one question: the rubber band is stiff without breaks (is the original and i want to preserve it) so i would ask if you know a tip to soften this? Please let me know....i'd like to wear this early Casio when i will go in vacancy nextly...an everyday watch.
The released year of Casio F-81 is 1982?
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

There's unfortunately not much you can do, as the flexibiliser has evaporated. For old computer equipment I use Ballistol Oil or (in case that doesn't help) Glycerine -- but that's only a temporary relief. There's no way to get the flexibiliser back into the rubber. If it's gone, the only thing that helps for sure is replacing the faulty part.
Did you consider buying a replacement strap for the F91? It's not exactly the same, but maybe close enough. I'm not sure though if the lug spacing is the same. If it's the same, I would just buy a whole F91. It should cost no more than 20 Euro and who knows? Maybe it will be a "classic" in 20 years :-)

I don't want to replace it,the band seems to be ok 'cause is free breaks.I found the watch close in box with still the sticker on the glass so i suppose that no ones wear it.
Some times ago i have heard that a solution was to make a bath in hot water and then use talcum powder (i hope my english is correct   )
I found also two casio melody H108 nos but with the band very very cracked...
