Cortratonic Solar

Post09 Oct 2013, 12:54

So I was given a few watches and among them was this Cortratonic Solar, that I have no idea what it is, how old it is etc? Anyone has any idea? Cause I found almost nothing searching with google etc! :(

It does have a few problems, the batteries leaked :( and the LCD is not in good shape, however if having some sun light into it, it does show a faint number on the lcd, a seconds count. On the other hand it does use 2 batteries, so I am not sure how does it work being solar and battery powered?

Some pictures, sorry not so good ones!

needs a good cleanup..but still no idea how old it is..late 70, looking at the shape. I think the batts are the main energy source.
Btw welcome to the board "willkommen"

This is the only old one i have in my collection

Thank you Kasper!

Yes I too believe might be from late 70's. I'll have to sent it to my watchmaker for a good clean and to have a look at the lcd which might be unrepairable. On the plus side is in good condition and the metal bracelet is of nice quality, even has a type of "diver's extension".

Nice watch you have Kasper! I also like these old designs, quite interesting!

Kasper

I havent seen that one before, it looks like they pinched a Casiotron case design. Is it SS or plate. I have an early casiotron (S-14) style case here from a different manufacturer in plate but has a Casio module in(not solar though)
