Casio SA-53

Post24 Apr 2015, 22:44

Bought NOS but not working this thin Casio from 1984
...After spending hours and hours to check the issue the watch seemed dead even if the circuit was clean and without any trace of corrosion or battery leackeage
The only solution was to look for a new and working circuit and after a long search i found it on ebay, coming nos from Belgium.

So not a big restoration, just only a swap circuit...but as you must know i love thin watches...as always dedicated to my friend Kasper ;-) we love thin watches... :Prost:

Here's a situation that positively proves NOS should be abandoned as a description of condition...functional or cosmetic.

NOS could also mean, "never touched old stock, found on bottom of lake". Yes it's new, never used in original packaging, filled with lake mud, rotted away, but still NOS :grin1:
Or, more realistic, an untouched seventies watch, still with it's leaking seventies alkaline battery.

Well,as you should know i found many new old watches in stores in Italy.Sometimes they works and sometimes not (battery leakeage with hard corrosion everywhere and dead itself). So NOS doesn't means a fully working watch and we (collectors) know very well this cruel part of our hobby.

Maybe we should use the "ABANDONED IN STOCK" phrase... :?:
