New life to a Seiko M158 AKA Pan Am

Post07 Jan 2013, 22:35

I was always intrigue by the green filtered Seikos and finally got my hands on this one. It was working but it was in very bad state, the crystal was badly scratched same with the case. I pull my polishing kit and after 2 hours of get in it on the mail I was weareing a back to life nice looking Seiko. Sadly the original bracellet was way too small for my wrist and for the meantime he got a black rubber band which I start to like it. Not bad for a $24.00 bargain :-P

Nice catch Phasar! IMHO, it would look great with a leather strap (a black or a dark brown one would be a good choice). You surely got a great bargain, especially 'cause you've restored it so well. Congratulations. :-)

Thanks guys, I'm on the look for nice leather band for this watch, I gree that a black or dark brown would look awesome. If some body needs links or the whole bracellet let me know, I think is the original. I will stay with leather for this watch.[/color]

Why dont you get a 16mm bracelet extender from ebay? makes a short bracelet long again. Most A229's came with them on as standard!

I had tried the extenders on other watches and really work, the bracelet for this watch was way too to small to start and having the extender to the max really look bad to my taste.
The crasp on some Seikos are way to short with a sharp radius also, like the one on this watch. I been enjoying this watch with the rubber band since I got it and waiting untill I get the perfect leather band for it.
Don't get me wrong I like the original bracelets and don't see myself wearing my 634 - 5000 and 634- 5019 with nothing but original bracellets.
