Heuer 980.027 with the LCD acting up.

Hi everybody,
I have 3 Heuer analog digital watches (heuer 980.027) but 2 of them have the digital part (lcd) acting weird. It is showing random numbers (53:53, 29:29, etc).
Does anybody know what is wrong with them and how to fix it?!
Is it any kind of setting or a malfunction on the lcd module?
I would like to clarify that even though the lcd module is acting up, the analog part is working perfectly.
Any suggestion?!

I have quite a few examples of this module. It is quite a common problem caused I think by shorting the battery. I dont know what damage it causes but I have yet to find a cure.

yeah have the same problem with a nice citizen..also still haven't found the solution.

kasper is your module the same? I didnt know Citizen used that module.


Also did you get my PM? Everything is hectic here with moving and I dont know if everything is working properly.

no i have a citizen with a double row lcd that does just the same..fast random jumping numbers.

The awful ESA 900.231 module! They are notoriously unreliable, usually just stop dead so the analog part still running is a good sign. They are also very sensitive to static discharge so take all precautions when dismantling. First thing is to check that the very fine phosphor bronze contact strips the buttons press against are not floating free- they do tend to fracture where they meet the circuit board. Next remove the circuit board, inspect and clean it. And that's about all you can do with one of these. However the 900.231 was used in lots of other Swiss ana-digis, such as Mondaine, Oriosa & Microma, and these are not hard to find- although they can be pricy compared to other ana-digis as people know the module can be swapped into the Breitling Pluton, Mars, Cosmos and Jupiter Navitimer ana-digis (2100, 2200, 2300 & 2400).

Also, could you tell me if, where, and how (much) the 9315 LCD Modules can be acquired?! I have a few of old LCD watches (Longines, Wittnauer, Mido, Tissot, and a few others) that uses the same module and I would love to see them back to life.
