SEIKO A039 5019R Demonstration Model

Post26 Sep 2013, 19:18

Hello,
I am trying to find out any information on this piece. It is a fully working demonstration model Seiko Quartz LC AO39.
My assumption is that it was used to show people how these "new" watches worked without the need to huddle around the real thing.
Never seen another one and wondered how rare they were.
Any further insights gratefully received.
Many Thanks,
kyaxley

I bought it from an antique/junk shop some years ago. Replaced the battery boxes (the plastic had gone brittle) and it sparked up first time - well, the first time I got the wires in the right order! Then went off to find the same model....

The alarm does work. It is a fully functional demonstration model. All functions as per the A039

Scrolling down this thread I was thrilled to see it work with these humongous digits all in a sudden !
Incredible.. I suppose the case is chromed plastic, or is this also chromed steel? (or even better the real thing, stainless, which I can hardly believe :) )
I would not let go of this if I would have been you. I can't think of a better wall clock...
And, as Seiko Kid mentioned, please show us what's moving this giant!
Thanks for sharing!

It is stainless. NO PLASTIC! Heavy and chunky. As regards the insides I'm sure that it would also come apart like the AO39 but I'm not taking that step

Welcome to the board!
That's a nice prop, thanks for the pictures. If you want to sell it, give us a Yell on the board here. I think that some members here will be interested.
Btw could you set your location in your personal prefs.
"willkommen" :dwf:

I've seen it before, and always wondered if it was a working prop.
All stainless steel ? , it will be a very heavy piece indeed.
Thanks for showing us.
