Thix T3

Post02 Nov 2005, 14:30

Hi all, I'm new here and thought I'd start off by posting my new watch. This arrived in the post today and it's to be my Christmas present from my wife. My wife was out when it was delivered so I had time for a quick play but now it's locked away until Christmas. Seems well built, comfortable to wear and plenty of functions to keep me amused. I'm pretty forgetful so the 5 alarms will be useful. Looks like they can be programmed for particular days of the week which is handy. :)

What a refreshing new design. Finally a watchmaker with some new ideas in digital watches. I like the "odd" vertical display - so much info at just one glance and such an interesting design. Reminds me of a watch I have seen on that Guys site, what was it called again? Awww, that guy with selling all the japanese watches on his site.

I saw this watch first on the Cool Watch website. Then I tracked this one down on ebay and it was being sold by the cool watch people. I got it for around half the shop price so I was pretty pleased. I think it used to be on the tokyo flash website too.

Yes, it's a nice watch, I also have one, got it from Tokyoflash. I like the mirrored LCD. Here is an older thread about it http://digital.superman.ws/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=500&highlight=thix

Hi Estimer, welcome here :)
Thanks for the link, didn't know it yet. A bit pricey, however (I paid half the price @ tokyoflash, incl. shipment from Japan...)

I'm still waiting for the "styling-conscious" watch on the start page (at the bottom, 2nd right, FL0413D-01). Reminds me of that Omega LED watch prototype.

Now that's a great modern watch, but, sadly for me, it looks a little narow to be a men's watch?

I think it looks really smart, but would it not be really awkward once on the wrist to see the time? Most displays are at right-angles to the strap so when you bend your elbow you read the time the right way up. With this watch you sort of need to hold your arm out straight to read the time the right way!

The T3 (see previos page) has the same orientation. It IS awkward to read. Different, but not better, IMHO.
Anyway, who wears a watch like this only for reading time - me not
Sometimes I have a glance at the watch I wear just because I enjoy its design - if you asked me what time it showed, I couldn't even tell you
@ abacus - yes, it's a bit narrow for what normal people think a men's watch should look like. But I don't mind wearing a Diesel DZ7008 or Micheal Young PXR-5 - a real man can stand by his watch taste

Wow, that Diesel Dz7008 works for me - looks liks a Talon Lip on 80's "designer drugs"! 8) I have a Thix and it is not really a matter of having to turn your arm so the display is totally horizontal - even my middle aged eyesight can read the display just fine at a 30-40 degree deviation from "straight".

I used to sell these. They aren't a bad watch. I wouldn't wear one myself, because the conventional LCD display has long lost its appeal for me, but the case and functions are nice.

There are sites in the UK and, I believe, the US that also sell it.

Thanks for the pointer, I see they have some grat new designs in the TE and Xcite lines. The TE MG0605D is one of the coolest watches I've ever seen.
I have the TE MG0406D, quality is very good. The shop is a bit pricey, IMHO (I know the wholesale price...).
