Help IDing Paul McCartney's latest digital watch

Post30 Nov 2008, 01:58

I was initially surprised to learn that former Beatle Paul McCartney is a Synchronar owner, but I later learned that he is apparently a full-blown digital watch fanatic.

For his 2001 album "Driving Rain," he took the cover photo (a self portrait) using his Casio wrist camera. This gadget also served as one of his muses - he named a track after the watch's error message "Memory Almost Full."

In the CD booklet of Paul's latest album, "The Fireman: Electric Arguments," he can be seen wearing another digital watch. I'd be curious to know if anyone here can identify which one it is:

Good Find! I still get Paul McCartney news alerts everyday.I have noticed over the years he sems to be wearing the LCD Black band watch more often than caught wearing his Synchronar.I have seen similar close ups like you have posted but never seen these photos. I would wager it is a Solar aided/powered Shock resistant LCD.

He is a notorious vegetarian and dislikes any unnecessary waste such as batteries going into land fills. He also is into a classic original thing especially if it is meant and built to conserve and recycle power and tell good time.IMO

Vaguely looks like a Tissot, maybe a T-Touch?

AFAIK all Tissot T-Touch have hands - this one has a large digital display.
To me it looks like a Casio, but I know close to nothing about Casios. Maybe the folks in the PCS forum could help...

If there are no hands, then you are correct. Might be a Casio, but I cannot tell which one. Could some blog about him have that information?

Could it be a similar model to the SUUNTO D4 ?

The digital display looks to be a good match.

Hmm... there is a black plastic section across the top of the display on Sir Paul's watch that isn't on the Suunto. Is that Suunto solar charging?
(Cool watch BTW). I'd go with the Casio guess or perhaps... Timex?

(Sorry for the double post)

I see the black plastic section, the Suunto also has a black border, could it be the camera angle making it appear larger than it actually is?

The most striking difference I can see is the amount of silver surrounding the digital display, loads more on Sir Paul's.......thought it was close enough to be the correct make but maybe a different model?

With his wealth it could be a one off specially made watch......I will have to give him a call and ask him.

Thought maybe 'With A Little Help From My Friends' that 'We Could Work It Out' but we seem to be getting 'Nowhere Man' maybe 'I Should Of Known Better!' If we had 'Eight Days A Week' we may still of needed 'Help'. It's been 'A Hard Days Night' but 'I Feel Fine' and maybe it's time now to 'Let It Be' and 'Get Back' onto 'Something' else.

Now now... with a little luck we can work it out. We can make the whole damn thing work out...
