One being whether the display is affected by temperature, and if the display is affected by pressure, similar to the way an LCD is.

Definitely not affected by pressure. You can bend it or press it and the appearance does not change at all.
I have yet to put it into the fridge (but I won't try the oven
). Maybe it will become a little slower at low temperatures, but I'm sure it won't change its apearance.
The technology is described
on Phosphor's site and also on
Wikipedia.
It's fascinating, totally different from any other display I've ever seen. It looks like plastic-laminated paper with the time printed on it. The "black" is rather a dark gray, but still contrast is excellent, and the viewing angle under any light is like that of - you guessed it - plastic-laminated paper.
The segments are a bit "unsharp" at the edges. Adjacent segments "melt together" so there is no visible division between them.
The display shows "ghosting" (see "55" on the 2nd photo). To overcome this, the entire display flashes every 15 minutes, that is, goes through an all-white/black/white/black cycle.
You can chose between negative mode (see above) and positive mode (black digits on white background).
I'll post some more photos later.
