Braun BN0106 Battery Change

Post18 Nov 2015, 08:58

Hi All.
I just changed the battery on my Braun BN0106 (AKA BN010) with a new CR1620. It now seems dead in the water
Has anyone ever attempted this before ? Any tricks ?

Hi, Ive done it once without incident. I remember I actually looked up the Ventura battery change instructions (as Braun try to push you into using them for servicing and pay their v high fee so dont divulge any info for this) and I was a little apprehensive as it was quite complicated for the Ventura. However, on opening the Braun, if memory serves me correctly, the battery socket is immediately beneath the lid and it was a straightforward process to swap in the new CR1620 battery. I dont recall needing to do anything else. I took all precautions like wearing rubber finger cots etc but expect you prob did the same. I'll post if I can remember anything else but pretty sure that was it.

Thanks for your reply wzy. I too have changed the battery in my Ventura Delta, and it was quite a pain.
When I removed the back on the Braun, I was quite surprised at how seemingly simple it was.
Just a strap holding the battery in place, perfectly accessible.
This is why I'm so surprised that it hasn't recovered

Thanks again.

Is there and AC reset anywhere Charger? I know a lot of the Casios have them and wont start until you reset. Again, you probably know this already.

Thanks Adam. I did think of an AC reset, but there isn't anywhere obvious.
Anyway, she's up and running again. The lithium cell was low, straight out of the packet
I bought 5 x Maxell CR1620s and the first one I tore out from it's packaging (and used) was only measuring 3.0V. I'd forgotten that they should be about 3.3V when new.
The old one was measuring 2.8V, and neither this, nor the new 3.0V one would power up the watch.

It seems the Braun is smart enough to keep the watch running on a low voltage (while showing the 'Low Battery' warning), but won't power up from such a source.
Thanks for your help gentlemen ~:(

Great thread, any pics of this with the back removed? I wonder if this is the same easy battery change on the Ventura Gamma? Which has a similar flat case back unlike most other Ventura's.

Had to take the back off again.

It's as simple as it looks to replace the battery. Just make sure your new battery is good !@@!
No, the piezo hasn't moved on the caseback. Looks like the movement must've been modified after the case was designed. The piezo has been cut, and is above the recess where it was originally intended to be.

Enjoy.

Hi Rob.
Yep, I wear it regularly. Had it on yesterday in fact.
I really like it. Simple, stylish and a quality build.
