Seiko SDGA Prices

Post04 Mar 2017, 00:22

Seiko seems to have had trouble shifting them new, but now prices seems to be higher?

What's the cheapest one you've seen recently?

My Star Wars special went for $3000 last mont at the auction site.

Might be a one off as I have not been tracking them. Box, papers and etc with some light wear marks.

Blimey that's a good result. I heard someone on another watch site sold his for £550 but that was when you could still get them new. for £750.

This one from 2012 with a limited production run of 1000.

Picture from ohgizmo.com

Purchased new in box in 2015 for $1200. I never buy new, preferring to restore but couldn't ignore this though. I got it to go with my 0614 which has very similar design elements. In fact they used the three button and case design as an homage to the 06LC and 0614.

The one I posted was only produce in 2012 as a star wars tribute. Its' cousin with the playing cards is physically identical except for the picture displays. I don't know how long it was produced or in what numbers as it was not a limited edition.

There are some incredible auction prices at the moment:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Seiko-Star-Wars- ... Sw241YlYhd

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Used-Seiko-Brigh ... Sw44BYEjkH

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/SEIKO-Star-Wars- ... SwB09YPbCl

And these are preowned!

Won't comment on the prices, leave that up to the bidder.

It's a very strange market for the Star Wars ones. At the time I bought one for £750 because I really love digitals and I really love Star Wars. But I'd never dream of spending $3k on one! But neither would I sell mine for $3k now. The Star Wars ones (SDGA005) were a limited edition as they're numbered. Mine is 92/1000.

The standard ones with the playing cards or other themes I don't know about so it would be good to hear from someone with one if they're numbered?

I agree, bought mine from Rakuten mail order NIB number 197/1000. Got it for styling, craftsmanship and theme.the theme probably causes fluctuations in the value, which probably increases with the announcement or release of a new Star Wars franchise.

On a side note I grew up with Star Trek the original series and would have preferred the USS enterprise and etc.

I was hunting for a SDGA003 for a while and they are getting hard to find at reasonable prices. Managed to find one in a very nice condition with boxes and everything for 500 euros in Ukraine. :) It is a standard one, and no, they are not numbered. I am now trying to get a replacement back cover as the current one has some signs of damage from the last attempt to open it. Hopefully SEIKO still has some as parts, we will see.

The pricing for Starwars-anything is out of hand now.

But for the SDGA, I think their prices are brought up by the Starwars edition. Great watch, I hope Seiko will make more of ePaper models

What he said! I speculate that Seiko is done with e-paper watches for mass production.

I suspect you may be right, which is a shame.

Seiko could do away with the ugly Display 2 and 4 and replace them with something better. I would really like to see an EPD display doing digital hands. If you did away with the second hand, then the power requirement would be no more than the display change every 1 min of the digital.

Or you could have Star Wars and Star Trek (and maybe Serenity/Firefly) themes on the different display modes. With the EPD technology it's all possible in 1 watch.

What would they call that special edition though???

Want the ability to switch between watch faces, and custom faces are up on that list.

Agreed, two of those styles look like either the display or driver is broken. Even the default one could use a more....imaginative font. If they provided a way for user to update the appearance themselves and "flash" it, it would be a killer. Regardless, this is the most readable digital by far.

My main problem is the bracelet. It is well built, but I am not fond of metal bracelets. On top of it, it is either too loose or too tight as there is no way to fine tune it at the buckle. :(....and everything is non standard as well. I am working with a friend who is manufacturing custom leather straps to try and fit one on SDGA, hopefully we will be able to pull something off.
