Nixie or not?

Post02 Jan 2011, 19:25

Hi.

This is one of my nixie(or not) watches. I remember they were in every school and trayn/bus station in soviet time ( I'm originally from Estionia). I was visiting Estonia past summer and found it in a flea market and it was working perfectly. There are glass tubes horizontally, so is it a nixie clock or not?

Happy New Year

The maker Is "Elektronika" or "Electronica". They also made LED wristwatches (the Elektronika-1) and LCD pocketwatches. My guess is that they were the biggest (and maybe the only?) producers of digital timepieces in Russia.

You can still find some pretty cool ELEKRONIKA watches on eBay. I bet the people here would love to see the watches on the shelves underneath that rare clock of yours. I know I would. The only one that I can make out is a Star Wars LED.

That clock is absolutely gorgeous. Amazing piece.

Well here they are, all my collection so far... . But my true love is my synchronar mk1 and mk2 modules that i have restored my self with a big help form other forum members and especially Jeff.

I remember one of my firts comments here on this forum:

Thanks.
I was wondering about the origin of the wach. Well i dont know nothing jet about LED watches but im spending all my spear time looking for more and more information.
As i don't have much money to spend on them (jet) and I'm a practical guy I want to own some more watches that i can wear all the time and not to worry to accidently scratching them or worse lose one of them. So more expensive ones, I think, are not for me but will see.

...and how vright Led-Time was:

It doesn't last long, I put off for a while before I bought my first Pulsar thats when it all changed because once you find out how utterly gorgeous they are you want another then another and another.... .

So here they are:

1st post really (after introduction)...

egomon... NICE! I'm a Synchronar guy myself - having bought one new when they 1st came out. My question is what is that watch in the Lower Left corner, stainless with the full width and narrow screen? I think I just purchased one new in the box in gold plate. Any and all information you have would be greatly appreciated!

You should have posted this in the general section as well instead of the nixie section - just my opinion... maybe you have.

Again... thanx in advance!

Edit: I just noticed... 3rd from the Left Top Row also... I think that is the watch - HELP!

Its "La Generale" and it's my first led watch ever (bought it 2 yeas ago christmas time) and it is still my favorite. But I think other watch makers allso used the same case.

Hi egomon,
nice collection! About your La Generale, I have one of the SS versions as well. Mine has a dual time zone module made by National Seminconductor. Works great - probably a more reliable module than the Litronix version. Someone here may have a replacement module for sale?

Here's a picture of the one I just picked up. Haven't gotten it yet (any day now) but they said it was new in the box with all of the paperwork and I'm not doubting it.

Called a Quartus 2000 - I have seen one other reference to this on a search on this forum but nothing else.

I see where there is one on evilbay right now for 800 bucks and it's beat to hell!
