I have to admit, i'm a sucker for anything quirky, the stranger it is, the more i like it. I came across this "watch box", originally supplied with a watch by Bovet called The Recital 20 Asterium. That watch , one of sixty produced - cost $350,000 dollars

.
This "box" weighs in at 2 kilos, contains a massive 9 amp hour battery and lights up to show constellations. It even has an hydraulic damper to stop the lid cutting your fingers off. The telescope has a real lens and is made from solid brass. Like everything i buy, it didnt actually work, the wiring was partly shot, battery dead. With my trusty soldering iron and a bit of patience, i breathed new life into it. Unfortunately i'm slightly short of the $ 350K for the watch, so my aventurine Christopher Ward moonphase will have to suffice
