Between stone age and electronic digital

;-)

Had a positive ebay experience for a change with something in between stone- and cyber age:
There was an unusual variant of the Molnija Kristall for sale. I specifically asked for confirmation of the authenticity of the dial and that was confirmed.

Upon arrival is was a, albeit very neatly, home made dial.
I got back to the seller who appologised and restituted cost incl. shipping same day and did not want the cost of return.

Well, thanks!
The thing may be Franken, but the movement is very much ok; a sovjet railway chronometer by order of the Ministry of Railroads.

Glad to know that there are some good sellers still to be found :-D

Are you planning something funky with the movement? If so don't forget to share the photo's. ;-)

I have a nicely used looking, surprisingly well made 44mm sterile early Davidsen. It is simply on par with the pre-Cartierised (pre Vendome Swiss Made) italian made 5218.

It has a Unitas/ETA 6497 which is performing beyond reasonable expectation but which simply does not look right behind the rear window.
With a bit of tlc the Molnija chronometer will be an improvement in my eyes.

I have a crown stem adaped so it fits both the crown and the Molnija but the correct hour- and minute hands are unexpectedly unobtainable.
As these are the centre of attention I want them to be able to carry that burden.
There is always a solution so it will get sorted but it is taking time.

Here are some more I have:

I will make one as nice as literally conservative restoration can get it, and the rest is available for projects. The rougher finished, véry late one is as new and is ideal for spares.

Soon as I saw this thread I knew that movement would be going into a 'vintage Pam'. Are you a member of RWG?

You should consider joining, there's lots of members on there into old 'Panerai' projects, you might find the hands you need on there, or a modder who can mAke some for you.
