Repairing Segments on P4? documented anywhere?

Post26 Mar 2009, 21:14

Before you say "hey there's another segment conversation, good luck" let me ask a couple questions. I'm not a seasoned collector, I have one that I'd like to get running. I have mechanical watch repair experience and some electronics background.

I have a P4 module (104) with the center horizontal row dead in all three main digits. I have seen the diagrams of the P3 and how to test the drivers with 1.5v, but is there a diagram for the P4
on 'what controls what'? Is there any documented repair
methods for this that show the process with photos?

Is it even realistic to repair this? Before diving in and spending
hours and hours attempting a repair to a module, is there anyone around willing to perform such repairs (sucessfully)?

I'm really looking for recommendations on whats smartest / best
considering time and money. Swap in a different movement?
Is there frankenstein conversions documented anywhere I can
I can follow? This would be acceptable too.

Thanks for your advice,
-Brendan

: Repairing Segments on P4? documented anywhere?

Post02 May 2009, 09:40

Hi there,
I think I have heard this question before ;)

no, I don't think there's a pictured repair session available for a P4..yet.
I have repaired a few but only one or two wires were in need of help. it was to risky to play with the other wires to check and draw a diagram.for each segment.
It's not that easy as on Hughes modules ;)
good luck
