REED SWITCHES for PULSAR, OMEGA, HAMILTON

Post24 Jun 2010, 19:34

if you have problems with displaying or setting time on your beloved Pulsars you might need new reed switches.
you can always rob a dead module but matching proper reeds with buttons can be a challenge.
I have just found a source for high-sensitivity medical-quality reeds produced by Meder in Germany (they don't trade retail).
these are top of the line products that will react also to weak magnets and buttons.
they will fit perfectly on all types including P2, P3, P4.
email me for questions.

25$ for 10 pieces including worldwide shipping.

Guys! There is no need to go to Europe for these! I make the offer again...I will order these directly from Hermetic Switch [the original manufacturer who supplied all the reed switches to Time Computer]. I just need enough people to commit to make a minimum order [100 pieces per type]. I have the original specifications so they will certainly fit and work in any Time Computer module...and the best part is...the module stays original...you can't do better than an OEM replacement! If we're going to fix these things, PLEASE, let's do it right! They're about $4 each...you can PM me if you're interested. I'll let everyone know if we reach threshold for an order [I'm in for 20, myself].

you're right Bruce if you're a 100% purist.
these German reeds are top quality and work great and that's what it's all about for 95% of Pulsar owners. they fit and they do the job right.

in a similar format: I prefer the original large Motorola quartz tubes that fill the entire module cavity but once a Pulsar is fitted with a modern quartz I stop caring about purity (they will all need a new quartz one day).

I have a large batch of these reeds so they are at hand and available if required. I got fed up with a neverending process of matching reeds with buttons depleted of magnetism.

I've never had to adjust a reed switch Hanno from Strikes & Spares did the ones on my modules, is it quite an easy job to do as those little glass tubes look very fragile... ~:(

Hanno is also using these from Meder when a swap is required.
