Bulova Accutron

Post03 Sep 2014, 16:46

Dear friends, I request help! I want to insert a diode in my Bulova Accutron 218d in order to reduce the voltage from 1.5V to 1.3V specification as the original circuit.
How do? What type of diode?
Best regards.

After a quick search I've seen that the BAT81 schottky diode was mentioned. (don't know where to install it, but I'll have to know at some time because I've got an '61 Accutron I want to revive somewhere in my drawers... In my desk :grin1: )

I have several hundred 218's and never a problem w/silver oxide batts.Occasionally a 214 will give me problems.I have had only one 9160(out of over 100)over index. It was a NOS that never was touched by anyone.I have a few old mercury batts that still hold at 135V's and put one in the 9160 and it holds perfect time. Not a cure but I know now that it is not another type of problem.Rob from oz deals with it by using his system for resetting index range so there is no need for diodes. His expertise of all hummers is legendary. The Accutron Watch Page has all kinds of good info.I have read and reread the entire site many times through the yrs.Go there,do that.I hope it helps.
