Croton question

Post27 Dec 2009, 17:54

hello all

I have a Croton led watch that i wear on a daily bases, so it it not perfect, it functions well but i would like to give it a cleaning, It has two port holes that you change the batteries, but how do you get the remaining back off, since there is no retaining ring, is their a trick?

One more thing.

This watch has its original gold tone band it's in good condition, but some of the gold tone has rubbed off, can this be fixed? spray painted?

Thanks

The case back snaps on. Sometimes the back will slightly overhang the case where the band fits and you can lever if off at that point, if not carefully work around the seam with a sharp edge gradually lifting as you go. The case and back may be marked with a line which can be aligned to ensure the case is closed in the correct position when your ready to close it up again if not just line up the holes in the case back to match the battery wells on the Hughes module.

You need a sharp knife(some like a single edge razor). Stick the edge of it straight into the line between the case back and the bezel. Do not bother prying(case knife are designed so a case back is never actually pried upward). Press it in again at another spot - keep moving around the clock...I mean case. :-) Eventually it will pop off easily. Before you put it back on you can consider taking a file or wetstone and making a small opening on the edge of the case-back. If you're really considerate you will put it where the line that helps you line up the back properly is...or make a small mark to make it easier for the next person to find. :-)
