Nat semi question

Post10 Mar 2010, 00:48

Hi All

I just got a new model with one of those splendid dot display
nat semi modules - trouble is it's not really working..

I initially thought buttons were sticking so I removed the module and run it up on a 3v power supply. Straightaway the leds light up
randomly however whilst the command button does function as you can sometimes use it to increment settings, the set button appears
to be doing nothing.

Visual inspection of the connector and track doesn't reveal anything
and then it disappear under some clear (silicone) encapsulation so I can't bring myself to investigate further.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

James

: Nat semi question

I recently purchased an untested Gruen with an NS alarm module in it. I cleaned up the contacts tried with batteries and nothing, I then left it on a warm radiator (together with the Hughes mentioned in my previous thread) for a couple of hours and when I returned it fired right up, I set it, tested the alarm twice and it worked like a dream.............for 5 hours then went back to playing dead

HI Bucko

Thanks for the reply - yep this sure is frustrating.

I will try the hot/cold treatment next. The command button looks to be working fine, just set that is not responding (or rather responding of it's own accord, randomly).

The crystal is giving a strong 32'ish KHz so that seems good.

Will let you know if anything happens.

BTW there's no trick to setting these is there e.g pressing set and command together ?

Cheers

james
