Good day to all.
I'm new here, my first post. In 1973, I purchase new a P2 model, Hamilton Pulsar. It was $250.00 I believe. When the battery ran out, I remember having trouble finding a jeweler to change it. So I put in storage all these years. Two weeks ago, the case was opened for the first time with original batteries. There appeared to be no leakage from the two 355's. I was encouraged. There appeared to be a very small amount of powdering residue in the battery recess's but no corrosion on the contacts. I gently removed the powdery residue and concluded it was from the circular paper around the contacts. I bought replacement batteries with adapters from Battery Bob in Florida.
Now to see if it would power up, took it back to the estate jeweler, when he put the batteries in he saw a zero, 0, when he closed the case the display advanced to one, 1. I do not know if he inadvertently touched the command button, he said he did not. I could not advance the minutes or hours with the magnet or turn off the display reading one, 1. We decided to try and reboot by removing the batteries and reinstall. This time the display did not light up. Great, but alas no go when I tried the magnet. The minutes and hours did not display or advance.
All of this leads me to my question to you, is it dead or is there some hope? Is there something else I can try?
