P4 Battery Life

Post13 Sep 2011, 17:52

Besides not being able to set my P4, (display works) I am experiencing battery drain. I thought it was because I stored the watch with the batteries close to the magnet. I put in a new set of batteries, stored in with the magnet away from the batteries and 3 days later the display would not lite up. I checked the battereis and they were down to 1.35V. Would that prevent the display from liting up? I am leary about putting in new batteries @ $4.25 each if it is going to happen again.

Any ideas, suggestions?

Thanks, Watch Guy

Hi Watchguy, is the display still remaining lit all the time? i.e.- when you take it out of the drawer is the display still on?

BTW- you are paying waaayy too much for batteries. You can get much cheaper on-line, batterybob.com is a good source. Or you could even go to a Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot. Their battery prices have gone up but you can still get a 3 pack of Energizer 357 batteries for about $5.00. They may have the correct size for your P4 on hand too.

The display is not on all the time. I still don't know why the batteries drain s fast.

I agree about getting cheaper batteries. I usually get mine from the the local jewelry supplier for about $2 but I did not need enough batteries for the minimum order. If I keep the Pulsars (a P2 & a P4) I will order some.

You mentioned in a previous thread that you repositioned the read switch, it could be that it is too close to the command button and it is activating the display whilst in storage. It might be worth leaving the watch on a display stand and monitoring it during the day especially when the temperature is high, I am not an expert but have had the same issue.
