Step 1: Take a dead Pulsar P2 or P3 module.

Step 2: Strip it from it's parts

Step 3: Be creative  :D

What module did you use in yours Richard?
I see it has an LDR just like the original Pulsar module.
Well done to both of you, it's nice to see some creativity and also to see a Pulsar working that would have otherwise been scrap.

The module was taken from a ladies CompuChron, they seem to have copied Pulsar with their design, the setting and function buttons are identical apart from they were not magnet operated, and the display is the same size but not dot matrix, not sure who made the module but Sanyo made a very similar (but larger) one which was used in a few men's models including Unitrex and Longines, and the later CompuChron men's models also used it (they used Hughes Aircraft in earlier ones) so maybe this one was also made by Sanyo?

Hi Richard,
It certainly looks like quite an early module and appears to be well made too.
I'm on the look out for a Hughes module for one of my watches but, as the only way of getting one is by buying a working watch I may as well just buy another watch.
I've never owned a Compu Chron so I'll keep looking on eBay for a nice steel one.
I was thinking of selling my Pulsar Sports but I'm going to keep them and use one of them as I think that they may well be a reliable watch for everyday wear.
Cheers,
Ian

Richard, you have lost your dot matrix display, try this using the original display and converting the connections between Pulsar and Sanyo:

True! I remember a hotel like this in London (okay, that was 1975...)

English plumbing: why do/did they have separate water taps for hot and cold? You can't wash your hands with warm water, only freezing cold or burning hot :? I never understood that.

The question is......why do they have the plumbing on the outside of the houses!!!
In fact there are a lot of things that are stupid with UK....they drive on the wrong side of the road :? ....and now they are even allowing Chelsea to win Premier League

Would you want leaking pipes inside your house?

Who's Celsea, and WTF is Premier League?
Ok, enough beating the UK. Actually I love them for being a little different.
And driving in the UK can be thrilling when you've been driving on a small road for many kms (sorry, miles) without oncoming traffic, then suddenly there IS traffic, and you give way to the right side, which is of course the wrong side (luckily, both weren't driving fast and nothing happend).

Just got here from the link on the Synchronar mod (v nice job btw), and just noticed it's been one year since I posted that photo of the modified P3, even though it's not the best soldering job in the world  it's still working perfect one year on! :D

The plumbing on the module shown by Phil is just amazing and probably took plenty of time to complete. The same subject was mentioned somewhere else on this forum but it won't do harm if I'll post it twice in another thread. Here is my version, a quick job and surprisingly with the same proper dot-matrix display from a John Doe (un-named) donor.
