Phasar Y750-5150

Post21 Apr 2013, 23:52

Hello,

I am not familiar with Phasar watches at all, and wondered if anyone here can tell me what date this watch was produced in....

Sorry for the really bad photos, but I was in a hurry to upload the photos. I won this watch through an eBay listing, and since I won at $3.00 USD the price is what I could afford. The watch came to me working, but none of the functions would work due to frozen pusher buttons. I had to totally clean the watch case, remove the microscopic "c" clamps, clean all pushers, put everything back together, and hoped it worked, and it did except for the "alarm" feature which I rarely use at all.

I did not bother doing a restore on this watch, even though the crystal is a little scratched, because the watch case is made of that "ZINC" material with a SS plating, so it was not worth it. I will probably wear it to do gardening, but can anyone tell me the date or the CODE sequence that dates these Phasar watches, I really do like them a lot.

I'm pretty sure that's an early 80s watch, Sears used different letters one for each model for the year fallowing by a number. All my phasars are S7,R6,A5,A6 and some with no date code but all are from the 70s. Do you see any date code on yours?

I have seen many different manufactures of these PHASARS (Phasar 2000's) made for Sears Roebuck.
I have a SEARs watch with a Microma module which dates early 1974-75? , and I also have a Phasar with a Seiko module from around 1977.
My guess is that yours is an early 80's model ;-)
I just got this one today (A8) 1978?

I know phasar uses seiko modules, among others.
The watch that you have probably has a pulsar (seiko) module, i can tell by the Y750 you mentioned.
Pulsar/seiko (digital lcd) modules always start with Y.
Here is a similar module.

Very interesting these Phasar...mmmm this one seems a Citizen's module from 1978...
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way
