Sanyo brightness control

Post05 May 2015, 18:11

Hi all I have a Sanyo module with the two setting buttons at half 2 and half three positions.
Seems to be fully working but is very dim unless I hold it up to the light then it gets brighter.
Problem is that the bright setting is about correct for when it's dark.
In other words is there any way of adjusting the brightness to a higher setting?
Pics below and thanks in advance for any help. :Prost:

Well that was a little disappointing no responses.
So I decided to do a little detective work on the module.
Set up a switch system to illuminate the display while at
the same time shorting out what I suspected to be
the offending part. ( LDR circled in pic below) And Hey presto
full brightness.
Actually to bright now. So I took a reading across the
contacts with my meter of 304 ohms both in the dark and
with the lights on even with a torch shining straight at it,
no change. So I'm thinking it's US.
So just before I go rummaging in my bits for a replacement.
Does anyone out there know what it should read and are these
soldered or epoxied on?
Again thanks in advance.
Pete

This part looks to be the same size as the CdS light sensor used on the Time Computer modules (P2 and 3). I would try one of those.can easily be installed using conductive silver epoxy. If that does not give you usable brightness levels, perhaps an appropriate-value, surface-mount resistor would work. You would have a fixed brightness level, but at least it would be where you want it.
