Sicura Automatic Restoration

Post21 Mar 2013, 02:11

I was gone for a while on the forum, here I am again, many beautiful digital watches comme in my collection, I can wait to introduce them to you...
to start, here is one restoration...
When the watch case is chromed , the restoration is much more complicated than that case is in stainless steel.
But this beautiful watch deserves to take time, that he breathes new life...
I restorate many watches from my collection , and allso from other people collections .
Removing the old chrome and scratches is the first step, then it is necessary to polish case in hi gloss ( in this case is so) ,
chromium plating process is simple, most difficult job is to prepare case for it, because when you come limping on case , each mistake is see.
All mechanism serviced and cleaning.
Pictures say more than 1000 words... enjoy, more restoration coming soon...

Iggy

That is a fantastic restoration. It looks like you did you own chroming as well. Congratulations I am seriously impressed. I have a Sicura instalite here that could do with the same process

Wow, very very nice.

Please share the tips on how you sanded the case down, was it all manual or did you use tools? What type of sand grit?

What about the crystal - how did you restore that?

Did you know someone in the chrome business, or you did it yourself?

Really amazing work!

The first photo looked like the watch came from a war zone, but wow! The restoration was beautiful!

Hi all,

What a fantastic restoration by "iggy tee", the step by step presentation was impressive, to bring a watch to this state from what looked an old junker is quite mind boggling. Congratulations iggy, can't wait to see the rest of your restorations. :Prost:

Tnx a lot :mega:

someone ask about sanding, so here more pics with sanding paper and number of granulate...
90% of this work I do manually, except for the final polishing who I have worked with polishing machines you see in the picture.
After chromium plating, also polished with machine... :mega:

The Plexi Glass, first scraped with sandpaper No400 and with smaller and smaler granulate No600, No800 , No1000 , No2000 and finally polish paste.
First polish paste is G3 ,next is G6 and last is G10.
