Bulova Computron N7 driver's watch

Post04 Aug 2012, 22:08

Well I just had to do it. It was up before and I could have bought it and I didn't. He had it listed then for less and I thought about it and in that time he pulled the sale so no one got the chance to buy it. Anyway he listed it again and I was there about 10 minutes after it came live. I don't think many people got a chance to see it listed. I have learned my lesson if I want it to just go ahead and buy it if I can.

It is in nice shape with the red glass top. In buying it I killed my budget for all discretionary spending for a while. I am not sure how good the deal is but I can't complain because I want it to wear for a while. As long as I ultimately at least break even (or make a few bucks) I will be happy. But for now I plan on wearing it in good health. I will post pics as soon as it gets here. But here's a link to the auction:

I just added a second to the lineup. I don't know why I found this, or why it found me, but now I have 2 of them. I love the look of these watches and now I have 2 working ones and one that has a problem needing a couple of wire connections bound.

Which model drivers watch do you have? Which auto show did you attend? From wearing mine yours probably got as much attention as some of the cars. People love unusual timepieces.

I did an inventory last night. I have the 2 Computron drivers I just bought, one standard Bulova drivers watch and a Girard Perrageaux. 3 Tudor analogs (7809, 7964 and a 7934) , A 1963 Spaceview (may or may not be factory the jury is still out) a Pulsar Gents dress, a ladies P4, my dad's P1, several Hamilton electrics, 4 Soviet Vostoks, 2 Bulova L9 art deco cases, a Benrus oval a Rolex GMT and Daytona and a Steinhausen 381. Considering at the beginning of June I only had the Tudor 7809 I have collected pretty fast.

It is a disease. But it's not just LED's. I still hold a passion for analog movements. I do love my Tudors the most of all my analogs and wear them pretty often.

I need to start posting pictures as soon as my new watches get in. I want a shot of all 5 drivers together. My next acquisition will be a factory Accutron Spaceview if anyone has one reasonably priced. Then it's back to more LED's.

Mine is just a plain N7 :

It was the local Vancouver Int'l Auto Show .. I was actually worried a little bit as it was really raining while we were walking to the show, but it survived no problem.

That is a beautiful watch. I love the look of driver's watches. I like the band treatment. Although sooner or later I am going to put on a leather band just to see how it looks.

Oh and when ISN'T it raining in Vancouver? M:)W:)M

Beautiful catch Mister Tawny! I agree, the Bulova Driver's watch is something cool to wear at the wrist, especially if you want something that is distinctive and not the average LED watch. I have an N6 Driver's with a leather band (non original), and I love it. Here's mine:

Image

It's got something that magnetically attracts me towards it, something I cannot describe. Perhaps it's due to its shape? Or the noble brand that the watch bears? I just don't know. It gets cooler and cooler with time. :-D

A dream of mine would be to find a stainless steel Driver's watch at a good price, (not picky about the generation), so I can do a nice couple of Drivers watches, the elegant gold filled one, and the more sporty SS one. :-)

As unusual as these are what are the chances of finding 2 N7 with 240 modules on the same day in boxes again?

I am more broke than I care to be. But all in all I can't complain. I can't wait to get them in. I need to post pics of my new Girard Perrageaux drivers watch too. I just bought a new Kodak digital camera but I can only take pics at a ridiculously large size. I need to get a good photo editing tool and then start posting pics.

A Girard Perregaux Casquette? Oh my, you''ve started making me drooling. :O`~
That one, along with the HP-01, is a forbidden dream to me. Being a University student, my budget is quite tight so I can only dream about that watch.

(Unless I get a good bargain, of course  )

I look forward to see the pictures! :-D

I let a few people see this watch. Not many and the pics are not the best by any far means. But even so I have quite a few trying to get me to part with it. I knew it was popular, but I didn't expect the reaction.

Overall condition is around a 7.5 to 8 and the red strips are both 10's. Neither have any "nibbles" around the edges. A friend in Thailand showed me a picture of his and it had a ton of little chunks missing. But after wearing it I can see how it would happen. Even with care you could accidentally hit it on a piece of cutlery and wind up with a chip. The only problem I have is the band is too small for my wrists. It barely closes so I can't really wear it much. And I am afraid to chip it if I do wear it.

Anyway this is my first attempt at loading my own pictures and it looks okay. I will be putting up more pics of other watches in the next few days.

awesome watches :) If the bracelets have a folding clasp, try searching for a "clasp extender" on ebay. Works great!

Before anyone asks, yes I have one up for sale. My Gf requires I give everything a chance to sell. Fortunately she doesn't look up what the going rate is. If it does sell I will cry a little, but I already have 2 of them so I won't cry too much. I bought a few more Bulovas just today and now I can up my list to 6 drivers watches. I am collecting these 254's the way Bruce collects Pulsar.

Hi Mister Tawny.
I notice in your signature that you've got a P1 :O`~
Apologies if it's been mentioned before, but I don't recall any posts about it. Could you tell us the story behind it please. Where did you get it, does it work, any accessories, etc. etc.

Oh, and pictures would be good to see too !
Rgds,
Andrew.

The P1 was from my father. It was given to him on his first retirement from Del Monte (he was on the credit union board which is what he retired from, who gave it to him). I am still trying to piece the whole story together and unfortunately both my parents are gone so we have to rely on my oldest brother's memory and he was chemically enhanced (what ever you want to call it) most of the late 60's and early 70's. My dad has passed away and it's one of the few things left from him. My son has had possession and eventually going to own it. I am slowly taking pics of everything I have and should have my whole collection up in the next month.

Well that's a marvellous keepsake from your father.
He must've been very well regarded to receive such a prestigous gift.

Whenever your ready, I'm sure we'd all like to see pictures of it. I'm sure Bruce would like to know the serial number too.
Rgds,
Andrew.
