I normally buy LEDs but this week I've purchased 3 LCDs

Post15 Aug 2012, 19:12

Couldn't resist these 3 (must try harder in future  )

First - a nice chunky working Rotary for £21

Image

and then one of Kaspers favourites, a Seiko F231, also fully working for £58

Image

and then a risky non working Omega Equinox for £132 - one side is analogue and it then flips over for an LCD side - lets hope I can get it working!

Not got them yet so all pictures are from Ebay.

I say nothing. :-D

One week taking a rest from the bay and everybody is buying cheap. No, serious,Very nice catches, I'm curious what you find from my favorite. And I really like a nice review of the Omega if you get it working.. Its on my favorite list to.

It's time for me to start selling a part of my collection. I have more then 150 at the moment and I want to buy a few expensive ones :-D

Hi Kasper, have you got that version of the F231 already?
Which expensive watches are you searching for?

I'm negociating for the Bulova Phantom right now..so fingers crossed

The junghans is to make the wife happy :-D

First one has arrived and it's a stunner. Barely a mark on it and fully working. From what I have found so far there are 2 versions - one with chronograph function and the other one without. This one is with chronograph function. A serious piece of bling on the wrist.

Omega Equinox arrived today. I must say that it is a high quality watch. The bracelet with its brushed steel and polished inserts and face surround is very striking. Very few marks on the case - looks llike it has not had much wrist time since 1981. :-( Bracelet is a little tight so will need to look out for a spare link or extender.

Opened it up to check inside - battery changing is not for the faint hearted with these. You need to unscsrew the four screws on the LCD side and prise gently the LCD face off. The module should then come out and there is a small round piece of cloth at the bottom which you carefully pull at with tweezers to release the battery.

Low and behold the battery was dead inside (with what looked like 2 small spots of battery acid on it - maybe a leak but looks clean inside). Cleaned what I could reach with rubbing alcohol and reassembled.......... nothing, totally dead. Might be work a trip to an Omega Jewelers later this week. Anyway here's the pictures.
