Below is my new NOS device with manual and leatherette case- the first VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display/LED-like) Clock/Alarm/Stopwatch/Calculator with TIME Computer in the World!!!

The Casio CQ-1 - early 1976 has (and this is the rare RED type, with original manual and leatherette case):
- 4 alarms each with a different signature sound.
- The stopwatch measures to tenths of a second and runs to a maximum of 10 hours and has a laps timer
- It can handle dates up to 2099!!!

And thanks to a nice family of fellow watch collectors and friends who sold me the CQ-1, I have received - as a gift (thanks again!) - also the Casio CQ-1's younger (step)brother - CASIO ST-1 + original Casio leatherette case (cca 1977) - World's first digital stopwatch + calculator with Time computing (TM), as one can see in the photos below, including an old advertising of its quite advanced functions for 1976-1977, functions who made it the ideal device for engineering related TIME and MOTION studies and also for AUTO racing :

And only to clarify why such Time Computing (TM) capabilities - on both above mentioned devices (Casio CQ-1 and ST-1) - was an outstanding accomplishment for the electronic devices in 1976-1977(!), pls look at the TM capabilities (for 200 years!!!) of the Casio CQ-1 from its manual:


Thus, just for fun... OR NOT!!! , the Casio CQ-1 (cca 1976!!!) may be called the first Y2K CCOMPATIBLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE made in XXth Century, many years BEFORE the Y2K compatible representation of Time/Date may have been considered a problem!!!.
WHY??? Because:
"In 1997 (sic!) the British Standards Institute (BSI) developed standard DISC PD2000-1[1] defining "Year 2000 Conformity requirements" as four rules:
(1) No valid date will cause any interruption in operations;
(2) Calculation of durations between, or the sequence of, pairs of dates will be correct whether any dates are in different centuries;
(3) In all interfaces and in all storage, the century must be unambiguous, either specified, or calculable by algorithm;
(4) Year 2000 must be recognised as a leap yea"

As one may see in the above posts, Casio CQ-1 Time Computer have fulfilled such requirements ALREADY since 1976(!!!) , so it really deserved the Time Computer name!!!
