My favorite is the one with the really large display and all those buttons. Does it have a strap? :)

Nice collection, by the way.

Hey Geoff, I collect LED watches and LED calculators too, and the HP65 is the KING of collectible calculators. It has so many firsts associated with it - including being the first 'personal computer', it's amazing!

Edit: oops! I just realized it's an HP67. Still a beautiful and historical machine! It represents the peak development of LED calculators.

My first was the HP 25C - a brilliant piece of machinery. I'm glad HP is still making RPN calculators.

LED watches are quiet and polite. No ticking, no tocking, no beeping, no buzzing; they will only tell you the time when you ask to see it and they will do so instantly with no attention-seeking animations. A more civilized watch for a more civilized age.

HP abandoned quality calculators a long time ago. Mostly it was due to changing market conditions and evolving technology, but foolish decisions at HP also played a part. Recently HP began to attempt to get back to a significant level of quality in calculators, and there is some evidence that it may succeed (ie the HP50G), but they will never be able to get back to what they once were. This is mostly because calculators today do not fill the same role of cutting edge technological artifacts that they once did.

The HP25C is a shining example of the art of HP calculators.

Yeah, calculators are meant to die these days... Workmates sometimes smile when they see my old fashioned Liebermann TE 8000 table calculator on my desk. Yeah, i could use the calculator in windows, it even has scientific functions. But the again I'm not a scientist and i still love calculating with my table calculator and using a piece of paper to note down results, drawing linear regressions by hand. But being honest - the calculator has been replaced by personal computers in most cases.

I'm hopelessly old-fashioned.

That's a beauty Klippie. There were several companies in the 70's that made both LED watches and LED calculators. Among them are Bowmar, Litronix, Novus, and TI, and HP in the single example of the HP01. I'll have to post pictures of my Bowmar LED calculators sometime, they're worth seeing. Anyone know other companies that were in both markets?

They look like remote controls but I think these came out before remotes were widely available. They're actually a fresh, innovative, attractive design, which is not at all easy to do, at least for me!

edit: I just remembered another watch/calculator maker: Commodore. Also made some very stylish calculators.
