Show us your watch display cabinets

Post16 Mar 2010, 15:36

I have enjoyed LED watches for many years. One of my favourite enjoyments is to display, and to take pictures of them. Here are a couple of my display cases from my Mayfair Penthouse suite. I like to sit in my eames chair while smoking a pipe and admire while running my bare feet through the 70's brown shag pile :)

Lets see your display cabinets fellow anoraks !

Cracking watches Lloyd, I see there are a few missing, have you had a swap around?

The watches I have without boxes are in a collectors display cabinet which I picked up from the Argos for about £60, previously I had them scattered all over the place, although it is only a cheap cabinet they look so much nicer when all together.
The one I have with boxes are still scattered around on various shelves and are in need of a better display, I was thinking along similar lines to the wood one you have photographed although I would prefer it to be wall mounted.

Image

The watches in the cabinet are loosely ordered with gold tone next to silver tone watches, green displays, alarm, chronograph, message, dual display next to each other (mostly.) There are a few in there that might be recognized as old friends.

Display cabinet No2 is now under construction

Bucko,

I like your display. Although I am upset with one point. You have an all LCD watch.... sacrilege
I swap them around all the time in the displays cabinets so I can see some of my collection circulating.. My partner thinks im mad when I stand there sniffing the boxes like a vintage Cigar
The wood box stand was not that expensive, but looks effective I think.
Kippie, please point out the dust, I wanna clean it now M:)W:)M

yes nice guys..thoses watches look great displayed.

sadly mine are hidden away in a briefcase..
where i live its best not to display such goodies..
the local trogs will be through the window or any other means possible
to snatch away my collection.
my internet gallery is the most public i wish to be with them.

Rocky Horror Show meets Clockwork Orange

Going back to the cabinet theme the one thing I really like about the first cabinet photographed is the mirrored back which gives a nice all round view of the watches.

sadly mine are hidden away in a briefcase..

Can't be right, the watches in your collection are way to nice to be hidden away in a briefcase!!! I say shoot the Trogs & claim reasonable force!

I cant stand them being shut away. I love to look at them. But your right, the local trogs are a worry, ( Even though they probably would not know what they are ). One thing I would not do is to put the valuable ones on display. They stay in the bank vault !

your right guys..hiding these classic 1970s timepieces away is a crime.
but in my case ,i do wear all my watches, changing them at least once every fortnight.
And as we know if any of our collections were stolen it would be near impossible to replace..so yes apart from wearing them.
a personal safe or bank vault.is the only option.
i still like the displays shown here.

err....where was you all lived again..lol

Great idea :-D - or "Ocean's 12:08 - The LED Job"?
We even know the target address - almost ;-) "top floor flat, Mayfair estate Peckham". Could someone from London post a convenient google maps link, please? Click here for a start ;-)
I want the boxed SS GP, the accomplices can keep the rest ;-)
