Vintage CompuChron LED Necklace Watch

Post21 May 2011, 10:29

I wandered into this Compu Chron necklace watch a little while ago. I couldn't find it on the photo site or on a image search on the www, so I thought I'd post it here. There are eight bevels on the casing. It is about 36mm across and 35mm top to bottom with one button at 2 o'clock and a set button at 7 o'clock. It shows a little wear. Hopefully it will work when I get a new battery in it....

These are interesting timepieces. I know when LED watches made their appearance in the 60's, and were cutting edge technology and expensive, that by the mid 70's, the LEDs were everywhere. Bracelets, broaches and necklaces all had them.

I am not an expert at all, but I do remember seeing these in display windows at Mervins, Gemco and other department stores.
